Official Match Preview - vs North Hill

Official Match Preview
North Hill vs SAINTS
Saturday 20th February 2010

This week sees the Saints travel to North Hill, who sensationally beat us 2nil at home earlier in the season.
This weekend, we continue again without top goalscorer Iko Silva who is out for 4 weeks, but there is better news on the injury front as influental talisman Andy Kerrigan has shaken off an ankle injury and vice captain Jon Bishop is returning to the squad following 3 months out with a dislocated shoulder.

Dane Jackson Officially Joins The Saints

Its official, after weeks of speculation, Sticker First Team's Dane Jackson joins Charlestown Saints Football Club, and goes straight into the squad for tomoros big game against North Hill.
Jackson, 21, seen here to the left with the real Michael Jackson, is a lightning quick winger who can create chances from nothing.
Manager Jenkin was quoted in todays tabloids as saying... "We have had our eye on Dane since the summer and we are glad to have finally secured the talented lad".

The Saints had a very shakey start to the game this past weekend, but in the end class prevailed as the Saints came through 6-1 winners.

Saturday 13th February
CHARLESTOWN SAINTS vs Delabole Reserves

Its a case of (nearly) top versus bottom this weekend at St Mewan Park as we welcome Delabole to the home of the Saints.

Who can forget the reverse fixture earlier in the season, when manager Jenkin left the now departed Ian Hipwell on the bench, resulting in Wayne Ferguson and Hipwell leaving the club. We prevailed 2nil that day with an inspired performance from player manager Jenkin who's stunning creativity down the right flank set up Tim Osborne to kill the game off.

Manager Jenkin is expected to name a near replica of last weekends successful side who successfully saw of the threat of Tregony. The only absentee from the squad is top goalscorer Iko Silva who is set to be unavailable for upto 4 weeks, following revelations in the tabloids about his private life....the second parts a lie, he's just working.

There are also rumours circulating that Sticker winger Dane Jackson is in the squad for the clash.

Jenkin also welcomes back Ashley Cook-Phillips after his AWOL status last weekend.

Delabole are firmly rooted to the bottom of the league with only 4 points, coming from 1 victory and 1 draw. They have conceded 70!!!! goals and scored just 12.

Of course, Jenkin's phrase of the day will be... 'No Penalties please Stockers'.

Tregony 1 - 2 SAINTS - REPORT

Official Match Report from the Duchy League's Official Website...
"Tregony lost vital ground in their title challenge when beaten 2-1 at home by promotion rivals Charlestown Saints. Tregony faced an uphill struggle after being reduced two ten men after only twenty minutes. Nick Mills and Andy Kerrigan scored the Saints goals with Ross Vicary scoring from the spot for Tregony. "

Saints Team - Julian, Dunn, Cleeves (Hampton), Stockley, Dunphy, Barnard, Osborne, Housego, Kerrigan, Mills, Silva (Danneau)

Unused Sub(s) - Lemon, Jenkin

Manager Ian Jenkin went into Saturdays table topping clash with a strong squad, with just the long term absentee Jon Bishop in the crowd, Ash Phillips AWOL and new signing Steve Clark injured from training.

Jan Cleeves made his long awaited return to Saints action with a very strong performance and his "Delap" like throws caused constant trouble to the Tregony defense.

The first half was end to end with the Saints perhaps just shading it. But the odds were firmly stacked in the Saints favour when a player, rumoured to be linked to the Saints, hacked out at Russell Housego... Justin Trebilcock was then sent off.

The second half kicked off and after superb work down the flank, Housego directed a curling header onto the post, only for Nick Mills to score from a tight angle. The Saints team exploded! 1-0!!!

No-one can forget Andy Kerrigans amazing goal from the Padstow away game earlier in the season. This is a man who pulls out the glory in spectacular fashion, in the big games, and in front of his little lad, i might add...and he did it again, when his spectacular cross-cum-lob found the back of the net. 2-0!!!!!!

Much was made in the papers about the Saints giving away too many penalties, and having only conceded a handful of goals from open play...and Saints Captain Stockley was once again the offender when he brought down a Tregony forward in the Saints box... Penalty. 2-1.

Tregony continued the enslaught, but the Saints held fire.
Saints win a vital 3 points. 2-1.

Man of the Match - Nick Mills.
Honourable Mention - Jan Cleeves, Andy Julian & Spoonfoot Dunphy.

Tregony vs CHARLESTOWN SAINTS
As im short on time this week, its a very brief preview.
Father to be, Ian Jenkin has an excellent selection dilemma for this weekends table topping clash with Tregony, with new signing Steve Clark available for selection and a near full squad training on Tuesday Night.
One things for sure... Andrew Julian is expected to be named as goalkeeper for tomoros clash.
Tregony sit one place ahead of us, in 2nd, having played 2 extra games than us. But with only 1 point seperating the 2 sides, a win for the Saints would see us leapfrog our rivals.

Snow, Rain and Wind made sure that Saturdays much anticipated fixture with St. Newlyn East Reserves, was postponed...again.
