St. Mewan Park

Charlestown Saints vs Boscastle Reserves

Saints Team - Julian, Dunn, Hampton (Phillips), Stockley (c), Dunphy, Housego (Haley), Osborne, M. Barnard (Danneau), Kerrigan, Silva, Mills.

Unused Subs - Paynter, R. Barnard.

Manager Ian Jenkin named a very strong team for the visit of Boscastle Reserves, with 2 goal hero Matt Danneau rested in favour of the returning Nick Mills. A debut for young Dean Dunn at right back was a long anticipated one, and one that didnt disappoint. 2 of the Saints potential new players, Steve & Tom Clark watched on their new teammates with anticipation.

The Saints started the strongest side, as expected with Housego and Osborne causing the visitors problems down the flanks. Iko Silva looked like he was still suffering from the Xmas hangover, but after 42 days without a game, no one looked razor sharp.

Gary Dunphy was solid at the back in place of the injured Jon Bishop, offering the Saints a passing route to the opposing half and it lead to a superbly worked goal. This is just what Jenkin wanted, in his teamtalk.

Now i would of had a more in depth report of the game, if i hadnt fallen on my ass, courtesy of Jace Hobbs (Yes, he spells Jase with a 'c'). Goals came from Tim Osborne with 4, Russell Housego 1, Iko Silva 1 and a Nick Mills penalty. Boscastle had a brief glimmer of hope when Stockley awarded the visitors a penalty, to make it 4-2, but in the end, class prevailed.

Jenkin was quoted by Sky Sports news - "Im delighted with the team performance today, its time we showed the Duchy League, really whos in charge."

Man of the Match - Osborne (4 goals)
Honourable Mentions - Gary Dunphy, Nick Mills, Alex Hampton, Dean Dunn
