Training Review - Tuesday 19th January 2010
Poltair Astro Turf 8pm.
So Manager Jenkin and coaches Jago and Haley watched over a full squad, as they trained yesterday evening, bar Paul Stockley, Gary Dunphy, Rich Barnard and the injured Jon Bishop. We also saw 3 new faces and 1 returning face. The 3 new faces consisted of a current Luxulyan Sunday League Manager, Steve Clark, his brother Tom Clark and Andrew West, a very accomplished defender. All 3 players made a mega impression on everyone in a very blustry and wet night at Poltair.
We started the evening with a bout of fitness, which pushed the limits of the Saints squad, including fit again Andy Kerrigan, but everyone raised to the challenge and pushed themselves well, impressing the on watching management team.
But he real highlight of the night came in the 8vs 8 match, towards the end of the evening. Manager & Luxury Player Ian Jenkin had the ball rolled back from a Matt Danneau centre kick, and Jenkin delivered a David Beckham-esque curling effort from the halfway line and into the top corner of opposing goalkeeper David Haley's goal.
Magical.
